It was only last week when yet another burglary took place in my town. Its not that its a rough place, in fact its a nice area, its just these days things like this do happeneverywhere it seems. Unfortunately this time it was my friend, who had gone to see a film with his family, only to return home to find all his jewellery, important documents and all his cash missing. Imagine his shock when he realized that the burglar had not even bothered to spare his five year olds piggy bank! Such burglaries are becoming extremely frequent these days. It hardly takes time to lose treasured items in one go and more often than not we could do more. Before leaving our houses often what we have on our minds can be how are we looking. We need to make sure that we are wearing the best outfit and sometimes the last thing we think about is security. So the first rule is to make sure that you show some respect to those keys that guard your house! You need to think about where to keep your keys incase you are not willing to take them along with you. And please, the last place you must keep them at should be the flowerpots and under the doormats. Who is not aware of these tricks? In fact remember that not only are these burglars smart, when it comes to theft they could be even smarter than you. (After all for them its their profession!) So, in order to solve this problem think about security cabinets, which are available to provide you a simple and effective control over where and how you keep your keys. There are various types of key cabinets available nowadays including fire proof versions. You just have to be a little aware of these and the irritation of perpetually hunting the keys will be done away for good. Imagine the time and energy you will save. There are various combination locks and safes on the market, which have UL rating. For office, school or home keys, boxes and cabinets are available which can hold up to 49 keys. You can keep all your keys in this cabinet. Then there are larger cabinets also used by organizations and companies. You can even get cabinets, which can hold more than 200 keys. So, depending on the number of keys, you can decide the cabinet best suited for you. I have always believed that the two things that we lose most frequently are handkerchiefs and, well unfortunately keys! Yes, I know that there is no comparison between the two, but trust me, it is very easy to lose that small bunch of keys that takes care of all your property. The first thing to remember is that you should not really attach your name or address to your keys. If you do so and lose the keys somewhere, it provides a direct invitation to the thieves. Also, it is always better to keep a duplicate set of your keys with someone trustworthy, so that in case you end up losing the original set, you can still enter your house, office, etc, and of course change all your locks immediately. It is also advisable that you avoid keeping all the keys in one single bunch. This prevents the loss of all the keys at once. So, keep these little things in mind and make your house burglar free!

Some of us still hide our keys under the doormat or in the flowerpot. These are probably the worst places to hide your valuables, howevertheyve been used so many times that burglars are on to us. Even if our homes are secure and we never leave a key outside our house for robbers to find, however, there are still items in the home most of us would like to protect. Here are some great ideas to hide and protect that extra cash, valuable jewellery, or other precious itemswhether at home or at work.

A home safe. Home safes come in all shapes and sizesfrom small cash boxes to safes that install in the walls and under the floor. These can be perfect to hide petty cash, valuable paperwork, jewellery, and other valuables in.

A key box. Key boxes can install right next to your door and provide a safe, secure place to keep your extra keymuch safer than under the doormat. A key box is a miniature safe that requires its own combination to open. Some are big enough for only a few keys, and are small enough to install in an out-of-the-way place on your house. Some are much larger, with room for up to 50 keys at once, and are a good choice for businesses and office buildings that need a secure place to keep all their keys.

A laptop safe. What would happen if someone stole your laptop? For some of us, our whole lives are on our computersincluding personal information, credit card numbers and passwordseven our lifes work. Its important to keep your laptop safe and secure. A regular home safe usually doesnt have the right dimensions. A laptop safe is specifically designed to protect laptops, offering the right width and depth. Some are portable, so you can keep your laptop safe at home, at the office, or at your local coffee shop.

A deposit safe. These free-standing safes allow you to put large cash deposits inside without opening the safe. Theyre ideal for businesses that regularly take large cash deposits and might be vulnerable to robbery otherwisebusinesses such as retail outlets, car dealerships, jewellery shops, and more. Some deposit safes sit on a counter or next to a desk, while others can be installed under the floor for added protection.

A security cupboard. This is a larger safe ideal for protecting big, bulky valuables. Homeowners use them to store things like power tools and electronics, and theyre also a good security addition to stores that sell large valuables that could be vulnerable to theft.

A candle safe. Theres no better hiding place than right in plain sight. Some safe companies make safes disguised as ordinary household objectsweve taken particular note of a real wax candle with a safe inside. The candle will burn for an hour if litand the inner safe is large enough to hold some cash, credit cards, and keys. Other interesting safe designs include soft drinks cans, hairspray bottles, saltshakers, light bulbs, peanut butter jars, containers of dog food, and more.

A gun safe. If you have firearms in your house, its doubly important that theyre protectedboth from theft and from curious children. You cannot afford not to have a safe place to put your guns. A gun safe is specially designed to fit firearms, and offers as much security and safety as a cash safe or cupboard safe would.

A medical safe. If you have a medical condition, you may need a safe place to keep drugs, syringes, and other medical equipmentespecially if you have children. A medical safe often looks like a regular cabinet, but with an extra-secure lock that will protect your medicines and medical equipment from curious kids and thieves alike. These safes are often used by pharmacies to protect their drug stocks from theft, and can also be used by businesses that have employees with special needs.

There are plenty of ways to keep your belongings safe and secureso if youre not protecting your valuables with a safe or lockbox, theres no reason not to. With all the varieties of safes out there, youre sure to find one at the right price, size, and level of protection thats right for you.
