Electronic and Biometric Key Locks
Locks and keys are some of the most basic and essential machines
that we use on a daily basis. In fact almost every adult comes in
contact with a lock at least once a day, whether that involves locking
up anything from a home or office to an automobile or luggage. The
reason locks and keys are so important to everyone is because we all
want the same thing - more security.
If you randomly ask a person to show your their key chain on any given
day, it will most likely be holding anywhere from 5-10 keys at a time.
House, office, mail box, and a couple of car keys are hanging on just
about every key chain. A key ring clearly demonstrates not only how
often locks and keys are used but that they are also used almost
everywhere. With new technology, it will not only be possible for you
to carry around fewer keys, at least less of the bulky keys, but you
will also have the assurance of added security. Electronic and
biometric key locks are built with quality in mind and will provide you
with a secure alternative to conventional door locks.
Electronic Key Lock
The popularity of electronic key cards has increased dramatically in
the past few years, largely due to its growing usage in business parks
and hotels across the county. An electronic key lock is simply a device
that uses electronics to validate those who are accessing it. Most of
these locks use electronic key cards that work very similar to ATM
cards. Each card has a magnetic stip that is coded to unlock the
corresponding lock. When the card slides through the lock, the card's
magnetic code is read. If the card holds the correct code, the card is
confirmed and the the lock is released.
Electronic key locks offer several benefits. Electronic locks are
considered to be more secure than higly-used mechanical locks because
its nearly impossible for anyone to pick a lock. They are also easily
replaced and reprogrammed. These locks also provide added features. For
instance, in the event of a break-in, the system has the ability to
track the locks history. It is possible to track a particular lock and
find out exactly which keys have been used in that lock and when. It
also tracks the number of successful and failed access attempts. As
mentioned before, this key card looks and works like an ATM card,
making it easy to store in your wallet. One drawback to the electronic
key lock is demagnitization. If the card key is carried too close to a
magnet or sometimes even other credit cards, it is possible for it to
lose its code.
Biometric Key Lock
Biometric key locks are designed to recognize user's fingerprints in
order to open a door. Biometric key locks use advanced sensor
technology. Precise mathematical measurements are applied to recognize
unique physical attributes, such as fingerprints. The biometric lock
works similar to the electronic lock except instead of coding a
magnetic strip, the lock stores templates of different fingerprints.
When an authorized user places their finger on the scanner, their
fingerprint will be scanned and recognized within only a second or two.
The lock will then open and give the user access to the door.
The biometric key lock offers several benefits, including simplicity,
convenience, security, and accuracy. First, you can forget about
playing hide-n-seek with your keys because your finger is simply the
only key you'll ever need. With no keys or passwords to remember, this
keyless lock also offers relief from your worries of losing keys and
from the inconvenience of forgetting a password. Biometric locks also
provides outstanding security. Only those who have been previously
validated by the system will gain access to the door. And when the door
is ever forced open by unauthorized personel, an alarm will sound.
Lastly, this lock system is so accurate at identifying unique
fingerprints that even when a light scratch or wound appears on your
finger, the system will be able to still accurately read your
fingerprint.
In conclusion, both electronic and biometric key locks make secure
alternatives to conventional door locks. And what's great is that they
can be used for homes, offices, hotels, banks, or any other place
requiring high security and protection. Stop rummaging through your
purse or pockets for your keys or carrying around bulky key chains, and
replace them with a simple card or even better, your own finger.
